Prince Frederick resident Joshua Ryan Gantt was found guilty of sexual abuse of a minor, second-degree assault, and three related charges following a three-day trial, according to officials.

Gantt was a close friend of his victim’s family and they often traveled together, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said.

The victim reported the abuse in August 2021, when he was 13 years old.

He told investigators that Gantt had been molesting him over a four-year period at various locations both inside and outside of Calvert County in Maryland.

Gantt has been incarcerated since his arrest on Sept. 14, 2021. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Friday, Nov. 4, when investigators said he will “face a significant period of incarceration.”
